After a grueling seven-months of construction while his family's home was being renovated, Cody finally began working on the follow up to IV: Timber in the Summer of 2025. Though the forthcoming album likely won't be finished and released until later in 2026, in early November of 2025 a fun fact was made apparent - he's released at least one song every year since 2016. Not wanting to break such an awesome streak, Cody quickly decided to finish, mix, master, and release one of the songs from the album before the end of the year. Dear Heather was released on November 28, 2025.

As for the story, the year is 1951 - Joseph writes a letter to his old high school sweetheart, Heather - now long married to the wealthiest man in town. Though more than a decade has passed since graduation, his love for her hasn’t faded. What he's seen through his peculiar magic mirror (more of that to come) has convinced him that her husband, Peter, can’t appreciate the depth of what he has. Because of this, Joseph believes he’s the only one who truly understands Heather's worth.
