Burdale offers a wide array of amenities at its 4 parks!
Hale Forest Park is the largest park in Burdale. Spanning over 8,000 acres (roughly 12.5 square miles) it includes much of Crown Rock, Burdale’s northernmost mountain, as well as The Witch’s Well (a beautiful pond, perfect for fishing). The park wraps around to Burdale’s east, beneath Specter Ridge.
The park was named after the notable arborist and Burdale resident, Silas Hale, who first began maintaining the trees and grounds around Burdale in 1907. He created trails, picnic areas, and lobbied to have the first camping ground designated. Silas inspired The Town of Burdale to commission a parks maintenance department to their town’s municipality, which expanded in 1910 to include a Park Ranger division. This consisted of a dozen rangers, three ranger stations, and one fire-watch lookout station. He’s also thought to be the person who planted Widow's Willow Tree, though there is no documentation stating as such.
Bridwell Park is the second of four parks in Burdale. Named after Burdale’s first mayor, Oliver Bridwell. The park spans six acres and is located in central Burdale. Its amenities include a playground, a gazebo, a baseball field, picnic tables, a swimming pool, and an outdoor basketball court.
Spellbind Park & Senior Center is the third park located in Burdale. Located beneath Conjure Mountain to the south of Burdale. The 3 acre park’s amenities include picnic tables, a playground, an indoor 65+ senior recreation center, a swimming pool, and the start of the Conjure Mountain hiking trail. The hiking trail leads up to just below the mountain’s peak, Witch’s Landing.
Due to the park's close proximity to the collapsed mine entrance, The Town Of Burdale erected a statue to memorialize the miners who perished in the tragic accident.
Sundial Park is the smallest of Burdale's parks at just over 100 sqft. Sundial Park consists of a tree, two benches, and a giant sundial.
